The Board of Directors is UNITAR's highest authority, and its mandate is to promote the university's interests as an institution of research and education. The Board determines the framework for the university's organisation and sets long-term goals for its activities and development. The Board meets approximately six times annually. On the agenda are review and adoption of the university's budget and strategy in addition to discussion of general trends and developments in the areas of research, education, and research-based public-sector consultancy.

Datuk Seri Dr. Suleiman Bin Mohamed

S.M.W., S.S.S.A., D.P.M.S., PhD (UKM)

Prior to joining UNITAR International University (UNITAR), Datuk Seri Dr. Suleiman in the past has held a host of high ranking positions throughout his career. He sat as the Executive Member of the 42nd Commonwealth Parliament Conference (1996-1999), as an elected Member of Parliament (1986-2004) and served as a member of UMNO’s Supreme Council (1990-2004). Datuk Seri Dr. Suleiman has also held the post of Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (1987-1995), the post of the Deputy Minister of Information, Malaysia (1995-1999), Deputy Minister of Health, Malaysia (1999-2004) and as UMNO Chief, Titiwangsa Division (Kuala Lumpur) (1987-2010). As a published author, Datuk Seri Dr. Suleiman’s works have been printed in numerous journals mainly on the subject of Malay society, and in books published by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) which are titled ‘ATMA UKM 1999,’ and ‘Social Transformation of Malay Urbanization’  published by UKM in 1999. These are in addition to seven (7) political books published by the UMNO State Liaison and the Federal Territory of W. Persekutuan, K.L.

Datuk Seri Dr. Suleiman is frequently called upon to represent in matters of international repute for his country, with his vast experiences he is highly regarded and well respected among top levels of the United Nations international community. In June 2001, he was called upon to represent Malaysia in a special session of the General Assembly of the United Nations on HIV/AIDS. Datuk Seri Dr. Suleiman holds a Ph.D Persuratan Melayu (Malay Language Letters) from Universiti kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Doctorandus (Drs.) in Journalism and a Sarjana Muda (Bachelor’s Degree) in Communication Sciences (Publisistik) from Universitas Negeri Padjadjara, Bandung, Indonesia. His current interests include Sepak Takraw, in which he was the president for the Sepak Takraw Association of W. Persekutuan (2000-2010) and he has also received the highest honor Silat Selendang from the Silat Organization of Malaysia in 2011.


Dato' Abdul Rahman Bin Ahmad

Prior to joining Ekuinas, Dato’ Abdul Rahman was the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Media Prima Berhad (MPB), the leading integrated media investment group in Malaysia. He also held the post of Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), a leading Malaysian conglomerate involved in property, construction and infrastructure development. Dato’ Abdul Rahman began his career at Arthur Andersen, London and later served as a Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman of Trenergy (M) Berhad / Turnaround Managers Inc Sdn Bhd. He subsequently joined Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad, the country’s national asset management company as Unit Head and later went on to become Executive Director of SSR Associates Sdn Bhd.

Dato’ Abdul Rahman is currently also an Independent Director of MRCB, Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGVH) and M+S Pte Ltd, a joint venture company between Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Temasek Holdings. Dato’ Abdul Rahman holds an MA in Economics from Cambridge University, United Kingdom and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Mohd Hasnul lsmar Bin Mohd Ismail

Mohd Hasnul lsmar started his professional career at the Investment and Treasury Department of Bank Negara Malaysia. After which, he joined OUB-TA Asset Management Ltd, a Singapore-owned fund management company with asset management of more than US$2 billion. In 2004, Mohd Hasnul lsmar was promoted to the post of Chief Operating Officer (CEO) of TA Investment Management, Malaysia. In 2006, Mohd Hasnul lsmar set up Shoraka Advisory Services. With over 18 years of experience in fund management, treasury and consultancy work within the ASEAN region, he has acted as an advisor on many mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance mandates in a wide variety of industries.

Mohd Hasnul lsmar formerly held a Fund Manager’s License issued by the Securities Commission (SC) of Malaysia as well as the United Kingdom Financial Services Authority as in standing of his responsibilities in Banking and Finance activities. He holds a BSc. (Hons) in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom.


Mazhairul Bin Jamaludin

Chief Financial Officer and Senior Director, Outsourcing/Investment

Mazhairul Jamaludin is the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Director, Outsourcing/Investment at Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas). He represents Ekuinas on the boards of portfolio companies; Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College (KLMUC) and Cosmopoint International College of Technology (CICT). He is also a member of the Advisory Boards and Investment Committees of two of Ekuinas outsourced funds, CIMB National Equity Fund Ltd. and MK-One Fund (Labuan) Limited. He sits on the Board of Directors at UNITAR International University (UNITAR).

Prior to joining Ekuinas, Mazhairul Jamaludin spent four years at Astro All Asia Networks, Malaysia’s leading cross-media group with significant presence in DTH (Direct-To-Home) TV services, commercial radio and TV programming where, as Senior Vice President, Commercial Services Multi channel TV, he was responsible for the strategic, financial and operational development of the DTH business. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Financial Accounting and Management Reporting at Celcom, one of the country’s premier mobile telecommunications companies. Mazhairul Jamaludin started his career at Arthur Andersen and later at Ernst & Young, where he was involved in the statutory audits of leading corporations.

Mazhairul Jamaludin is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) as well as a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Accounting & Finance from Lancaster University, United Kingdom.


Amil Izham Bin Hamzah

Amil Izham Hamzah is a Senior Director, Investment at Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas). He represents Ekuinas on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Ekuinas’ portfolio companies; Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), Burger King Malaysia, San Francisco Coffee Company, Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College (KLMUC) and Cosmopoint International College of Technology (CICT). Amil Izham is also a member of the Investment Committee of CIMB National Equity Fund Ltd., one of Ekuinas’ outsourced funds currently managed by CIMB Private Equity. He sits on the Board of Directors at UNITAR International University (UNITAR).

Amil Izham was formerly the Group Chief Financial Officer of Media Prima Berhad and responsible for financial reporting, treasury, debt restructuring, mergers, acquisitions and investor relations. During his eight-year tenure with the group, Amil Izham was also part of the Group’s Senior Management team and director of several Media Prima subsidiaries including Big Tree Outdoor Sdn Bhd, UPD Sdn Bhd and Primeworks Studios Sdn Bhd. He was previously attached to PricewaterhouseCoopers, Kuala Lumpur, two Petronas subsidiaries and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Perth, Australia.

Amil Izham is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) and holds a (BA) Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, and an MBA in International Marketing from Berne University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland.


Wan Ahmad Saifuddin Bin Wan Ahmad Radzi

Wan Ahmad Saifuddin possesses extensive experience in the educational field, and in e-Business. He holds a BA (Hons) in Architecture from St. Catherine’s College, Cambridge University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture from University of Edinburgh and a Masters in Architecture from St. Catherine’s College, Cambridge University.

Prior to joining UNITAR International University (UNITAR), Wan Ahmad Saifuddin was with Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas) as Director, Special Projects (Education) in 2011. Formerly, he was recruited into Khazanah Nasional Berhad to start up the Malaysian Directors Academy (MINDA) for the Ministry of Finance, which after successful operation, he focused his efforts on building the Trust School Framework, a concept of Private Sector involvement to improve Public Schools with the Ministry of Education (MoE) through a Public Private Partnership Agreement. Wan Ahmad Saifuddin has also served as a Technology Head for e-Learning in iPerintis Sdn. Bhd. where he became the Project Team Leader to implement e-Learning for all of Petronas’ 25,000 employees globally. He joined iPerintis Sdn. Bhd. after serving with E-One Thousand Sdn. Bhd. as Chairman and Chief Technology Officer.

Wan Ahmad Saifuddin started his career with Damansara Architect Sdn. Bhd. as an Assistant Architect and later rose to become General Manager of Product Development at DC One Technologies Sdn. Bhd. He has also taught at Lim Kok Wing Institute of Creative Multimedia (LICT), Multimedia University (MMU), and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
