This is a type of loan provided by the Malaysian government to assist students financially in public as well as private institutions of higher learning.

The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) was established under the National Higher Education Fund Act 1997 (Act 566) and is effective from 1st July 1997. PTPTN became operational on 1st November 1997 at Bangunan Wisma Chase Perdana, Off Jalan Semantan, Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur.

Function(s) of PTPTN:

  • To manage disbursement of student loans for the purpose of higher education, and to collect loan settlements.
  • To collect deposits, design and offer savings schemes for the purpose of saving for higher education.
  • To carry out any other functions given to the PTPTN under any written legislation.

Eligibility

  • Malaysian Citizen
  • Not exceeding 45 years of age on date of application.
  • Received an offer from IPTS by fulfilling the entry requirements set by the Ministry of Education Malaysia and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
  • The courses attended by students must be approved by the Ministry of Education Malaysia and registered with PTPTN.
  • The course must obtain the Certificate of Accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and still be within the validity period on the date of application.
  • The remaining period of study upon application must exceed one (1) year.
  • Have no sponsors (ex. MARA or JPA) or scholarship(s)
  • Have opened Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) account before applying.

Other Criteria

Students who have received a PTPTN loan through previous colleges/universities but have left or have not completed their course, are required to terminate the contract and make full payment with PTPTN before a new application can be made.

PTPTN Application PIN Number

The PIN number can be purchased online through the PTPTN website or from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) for RM5.00 (valid for 6 months ONLY). Please keep the receipt for website login purposes.

SSPN PRIME Account

The Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) is a savings scheme specifically designed by the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) for higher education financing purposes.

Beginning 1 January 2012, students applying for PTPTN education loans must have a SSPN account with a minimum savings amount of RM20.00. A SSPN account can be opened online through the PTPTN website or at: Maybank, Bank Rakyat, Bank Islam, Agrobank or any PTPTN branch to get the account number immediately.

Online Applications

All applications for PTPTN loans must be made online. Applicants must apply through the PTPTN Online Application Website at http://www.ptptn.gov.my during the opening and closing dates of the application. Applicants are required to have an e-mail (yahoo.com or gmail.com) for correspondence purposes. Should there be any difficulty in logging-in or in resetting the password, please contact:

Loan Repayment

The borrower is encouraged to pay back the loan without waiting for the Letter of Claim. The period of loan repayment is based on the total loan taken as follows:

  • Administrative costs of 4% annually will be charged on the date of loan repayment up to 31 December 2003. From 1 January 2004, the administrative cost is reduced to 3% annually on the remaining monthly loan.
  • Administrative costs will be calculated 6 months after completion of study or termination of loan as specified in the signed agreement. No reduction is given in administrative cost.
  • Application for deferment of repayment can be considered for borrowers who continue their studies or who are not yet working. However, administrative cost will be charged during the period of deferment.
  • Administrative costs will be waived for full repayment of loan within 6 months.
  • Exemption of repayment will only be considered for borrowers who obtain ‘First Class Honours’ for loans approved prior to 1 July 2005 ONLY through submission of an application for exemption.

This scheme allows Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members to withdraw from Account II to pay the fees to undertake further studies in local or overseas institutions.

Beginning 2 April 2018, all withdrawal transactions for higher learning institutions can ONLY be made online via members’ i-Akaun.

Introduction

e-Pengeluaran is an online EPF withdrawal application via EPF website for members with i-Akaun.

Who Is Eligible To Apply:

  • Malaysian
  • Has not reached age 55 on the date of application
  • Has savings in Account 2
  • Is i-Akaun EPF user
5 Easy Steps Using e-Pengeluaran
  • Register / Login to i-Akaun through EPF official website.
  • Choose the ‘Withdrawal’ tab. Click ‘New Application’ to begin the transaction.
  • A notification via SMS will be sent to you for a thumbprint verification at the EPF counter (Wait for notification from EPF for thumbprint verification).
  • Visit any EPF counter once notification is received.
  • Payment will be credited to the applicant’s savings account (CLAIM / UNITAR account).
Terms Of e-Pengeluaran
  • Existing educational withdrawal requirements still apply. Refer to EPF website
  • Has i-Akaun
  • Member / Subsidiary pursuing studies at Higher Learning Institution who joins e-Pengeluaran
  • Member / Subsidiary wants to settle the remaining balance outstanding to the institution that gives loans and they are participating in e-Pengeluaran.
  • For the purpose of approval, the applicant must carry out identification of thumbprint at the EPF counter
  • Payments are made via direct credit to member’s bank savings / current accounts or Institution’s account.
  • Members who do not meet the requirements of e-Pengeluaran may submit their applications at the counter or by post.

The Social Security Organization (SOCSO) provides social security protection through social insurance, including medical and cash benefits, provision of artificial aids and rehabilitation to employees to reduce suffering and to provide financial guarantee and protection to the family. It is commonly known in Bahasa Malaysia as PERKESO or Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial.

One of the benefits which SOCSO provides for Malaysians is the education benefit, which comes in the form of a loan. Although this benefit is in the form of a loan, it can, however, be converted into a scholarship if the child obtains excellent results. This fund is for the benefit of SOCSO members / contributors in the form of a loan given to dependent children who are in receipt of a monthly benefit for:

  • Dependent’s Benefit
  • Survivor’s Pension or children of an employee who are in receipt of a monthly benefit for Permanent Disablement or Invalidity Pension.
Eligibility

Applicants must be dependent children of employees who are contributors to the SOCSO insurance schemes, receiving Invalidity Pension or those receiving periodic or permanent disablement payouts. Applicants can also be children of contributors who died while in employment because of injuries, or died before reaching 55 years of age. The applicants must be below 21 years of age, unmarried at the time of application and pursuing degree, diploma or certificate courses recognized by the Education Ministry. This loan is given to deserving students who have done well in their examinations and are admitted to institutes of higher learning.

The following persons are not eligible for the loan:

  • Siblings of the insured
  • Matriculation/foundation/scholarship students.
Loan coverage

SOCSO is offering educational loans, amounting to as much as RM100,000, to children of members who are in receipt of monthly invalidity pensions.

The borrower is required to repay the loan via monthly installments once the person has completed the study programme.

How to apply

Application has to be made by completing the “Permohonan Pinjaman Pendidikan PERKESO” form available at the local SOCSO office. You can also visit www.perkeso.gov.my for more information.

AXIATA Foundation

Employees Provident Fund (EPF) (Acount II) Withdrawal Scheme for Education

This scheme allows Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members to withdraw from Account II to pay the fees to undertake further studies in local or overseas institutions.

Beginning 2 April 2018, all withdrawal transactions for higher learning institutions can ONLY be made online via members’ i-Akaun.

Introduction

e-Pengeluaran is an online EPF withdrawal application via EPF website for members with i-Akaun.

Who Is Eligible To Apply:

  • Malaysian
  • Has not reached age 55 on the date of application
  • Has savings in Account 2
  • Is i-Akaun EPF user
5 Easy Steps Using e-Pengeluaran
  • Register / Login to i-Akaun through EPF official website.
  • Choose the ‘Withdrawal’ tab. Click ‘New Application’ to begin the transaction.
  • A notification via SMS will be sent to you for a thumbprint verification at the EPF counter (Wait for notification from EPF for thumbprint verification).
  • Visit any EPF counter once notification is received.
  • Payment will be credited to the applicant’s savings account (CLAIM / UNITAR account).
Terms Of e-Pengeluaran
  • Existing educational withdrawal requirements still apply. Refer to EPF website
  • Has i-Akaun
  • Member / Subsidiary pursuing studies at Higher Learning Institution who joins e-Pengeluaran
  • Member / Subsidiary wants to settle the remaining balance outstanding to the institution that gives loans and they are participating in e-Pengeluaran.
  • For the purpose of approval, the applicant must carry out identification of thumbprint at the EPF counter
  • Payments are made via direct credit to member’s bank savings / current accounts or Institution’s account.
  • Members who do not meet the requirements of e-Pengeluaran may submit their applications at the counter or by post.

After submitting the online application please email to kwsp@unitar.my and provide the necessary information regarding your withdrawal. The details of information needed are as follows:

  • i-Akaun Member’s Name
  • Student Name
  • Matric No
  • Handphone No

The Social Security Organisation Education Fund (SOCSO)

The Social Security Organization (SOCSO) provides social security protection through social insurance, including medical and cash benefits, provision of artificial aids and rehabilitation to employees to reduce suffering and to provide financial guarantee and protection to the family. It is commonly known in Bahasa Malaysia as PERKESO or Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial.

One of the benefits which SOCSO provides for Malaysians is the education benefit, which comes in the form of a loan. Although this benefit is in the form of a loan, it can, however, be converted into a scholarship if the child obtains excellent results. This fund is for the benefit of SOCSO members / contributors in the form of a loan given to dependent children who are in receipt of a monthly benefit for:

  • Dependent’s Benefit
  • Survivor’s Pension or children of an employee who are in receipt of a monthly benefit for Permanent Disablement or Invalidity Pension.
Eligibility

Applicants must be dependent children of employees who are contributors to the SOCSO insurance schemes, receiving Invalidity Pension or those receiving periodic or permanent disablement payouts. Applicants can also be children of contributors who died while in employment because of injuries, or died before reaching 55 years of age. The applicants must be below 21 years of age, unmarried at the time of application and pursuing degree, diploma or certificate courses recognized by the Education Ministry. This loan is given to deserving students who have done well in their examinations and are admitted to institutes of higher learning.

The following persons are not eligible for the loan:

  • Siblings of the insured
  • Matriculation/foundation/scholarship students.
Loan coverage

SOCSO is offering educational loans, amounting to as much as RM100,000, to children of members who are in receipt of monthly invalidity pensions.

The borrower is required to repay the loan via monthly installments once the person has completed the study programme.

Application has to be made by completing the “Permohonan Pinjaman Pendidikan PERKESO” form available at the local SOCSO office. You can also visit www.perkeso.gov.my for more information.
