Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haliza Mohd Said

Dr. Haliza Mohd Said started her academic career with Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) as a lecturer in 2005. During her tenure at UNITAR International University she has hold position of Dean and taught at Faculty of Business & Technology, Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Management, and Asia Graduate School of Business for post graduate studies. She teaches Master Programs, lead research activities, supervise MBA Project Papers and PhD students research work. In addition to her 16 years of teaching experience at UNITAR, she has also worked at multinational companies such as Standard Chartered Bank, Colgate Palmolive and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Her experience in the industry had given her the exposure on the industry trends and dynamic business landscape.

Her PhD thesis was a study on Environmental Scanning Practices and Organizational Competitiveness in Hotels in Malaysia. The study investigated on how 5 Stars Hotels in Malaysia conducted environmental scanning practices and strategize to remain competitive in the industry. Her area of specialization is mainly on Strategic Management and she teaches courses such as Organizational Policy and Strategy, Competitive Intelligence and Business Strategy, Business Environment in the Emerging Market, Organizational Change and Development, Organizational Behavior, Managing Organization and Advanced Qualitative Analysis at post graduate level. Her abilities to engage with working adult groups and corporate segments which made up of majority MBA students has given her the advantage in promoting hybrid teaching and learning among working adults.

Her passion for research has led her to present papers at International Conferences across the globe and published numerous publications in the area of Strategic Planning, Environmental Scanning, Competitive Intelligence, Organizational Behavior, Tourism Planning, Culture & Heritage, Community-Based Tourism and Rural Tourism Development in SCOPUS and other indexed journal publications. She has also conducted consultancy work on curriculum development and a member in Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), Qualitative Research Association of Malaysia (QRAM), Tourism Educators Association of Malaysia (TEAM) and UNIRAZAK Case Study Club.
