The Post Graduate Diploma in Education programme (PGDE) is designed for those who have completed tertiary education and aspire to be teaching professionals in Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary educational institutions. PGDE prepares both new and experienced educators to be inspired teaching professionals who are competent in overcoming the challenges in the educational settings.

At UNITAR, students will develop the capacity to become a transformative teacher through the theoretical grounding while developing critical capacities to make pedagogical judgements and decisions, and at the same time make a positive impact on the outcomes of learners, through a broad range of pedagogical and other relevant skills in order to become effective educators.

Programme Entry Requirements

You must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for entry to the UNITAR Postgraduate diploma in education Programme:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent as accepted by the UNITAR Senate; OR
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years working experience in a relevant field.

Language Requirements

International students
  • Minimum score of 5.0 for IELTS OR
  • Minimum score of 40 for TOEFL iBT OR its equivalent
