UNITAR and Putera MIC Kedah Launch RM1 Million Scholarship

UNITAR Education Group (UNITAR), in strategic collaboration with Putera MIC Kedah, has unveiled a landmark RM1 million scholarship fund dedicated to empowering the Indian community in Kedah through education, offering opportunities at the Certificate, Foundation, Diploma, and Degree levels. This was formailised at a MOU signing ceremony between UNITAR College Sungai Petani and Putera MIC Kedah in Sungai Petani on 25 August.
 
The initiative underscores UNITAR’s long-standing commitment to widening access to higher education and Putera MIC Kedah’s dedication to championing the socio-economic advancement of the Indian community. By bridging financial gaps, this collaboration aims to provide deserving students with a clear pathway to achieve their academic goals and build brighter futures.
 
Through the scholarship, selected students will have the opportunity to pursue Certificate, Foundation, Diploma, and Degree programmes across a wide range of disciplines at UNITAR. This initiative not only opens doors to quality tertiary education but also equips recipients with the essential skills, knowledge, and industry-relevant exposure needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.

By providing access to quality education and removing financial constraints, we are enabling young people to pursue their academic ambitions and unlock meaningful career opportunities that will shape their futures,” UNITAR College Sungai Petani Centre Manager Ahmad Amin Salleh.
 
Echoing his sentiments, Dineskumaran Patmanathan, State Putera Chief of MIC Kedah, added, “This strategic initiative represents our dedication empower the Indian youth in Kedah and beyond. And we are working collaboratively with UNITAR to fulfill this vision, through quality education. By removing financial barriers, we are enabling them to access world-class higher education and create positive ripple effects that will uplift families and communities for generations.”
 
The RM1 million fund will primarily cover tuition fees and accommodation and is open to eligible applicants from the Indian community who meet UNITAR’s academic requirements. Application details and selection processes will be announced by Putera MIC Kedah in close collaboration with UNITAR’s admissions team.

This milestone initiative reflects a shared vision to strengthen education accessibility, foster social mobility, and nurture future leaders, primarily the Indian community through this partnership.
 
“We are very humbled to have this initiative right at the doorstep of students in Kedah, at our UNITAR Sungai Petani,” Amin added.
