Why this course

The Bachelor in Accounting and Finance (Honours) is designed for students who want more than a traditional accounting qualification. The programme combines strong foundations in accounting, financial reporting, finance, investment, taxation, audit, governance and compliance with emerging areas such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, fintech and accounting information systems. This integrated approach equips students with the analytical, digital and decision-making capabilities needed to navigate an increasingly technology-driven financial environment.

With a curriculum that progresses from fundamental business and accounting knowledge to advanced subjects such as investment analysis, international finance, forensic accounting, financial governance and advanced financial management, students develop practical and industry-relevant competencies throughout their studies. Graduates will be well prepared to pursue diverse career opportunities in accounting, audit and assurance, finance, investment, taxation, risk and compliance, forensic accounting and related fields across the corporate, banking, public and digital business sectors.

Course information

Admission Requirements:

  1. A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or its equivalent, with a minimum of Grade C+ (GP 2.33) in two (2) subjects; OR
  2. A pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Jayyid (good); OR
  3. A Matriculation/ Foundation qualification or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; OR
  4. A Diploma (Level 4, MQF) with minimum of CGPA of 2.50; OR
  5. A Diploma in Accounting fields (Level 4, MQF) or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50. Candidates with a CGPA below 2.50 but more than 2.00 may be admitted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment; OR
  6. A Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) in Accounting fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 subjected to HEP Senate / Academic Board’s approval; OR
  7. An Advanced Diploma (Level 5, MQF) in accounting or related field with a least a CGPA of 2.50; OR
  8. Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government. 
    AND 
    a) Credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; AND
    b) MUET Band 3.0 or equivalent (OR Credit in English at SPM level).
      

Notes:

    1. Candidates without credit in Mathematics at SPM level and/or without MUET Band 3.0 or equivalent/ without credit in English at SPM level need to take and pass the enhancement Mathematics and/or English subject that equivalent to the SPM level. The enhancement subject must be offered in first semester or before enrolment with conditional offer.
    2. Students from Matriculation/ Foundation, its equivalent or higher qualification can be exempted from taking enhancement Mathematics and English, provided that the Mathematics and English offered at that programme level is equivalent/ more than the requirement specified for this level.

     

  1. ENGLISH COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT (INTERNATIONAL STUDENT)

    1. Achieve a minimum of Band 3.5 in MUET or equivalent to CEFR (High B1). If a student does not meet this requirement, the HEP must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is 

      sufficient to meet the needs of the programme.
