Our Diploma In Psychology programme is designed to produce assistant psychologist who are prepared to address intellectual, emotional, social and psychological needs of the individuals. Students will be trained in three aspects: theoretical, industry-based project and internship training.

Graduates of this programme will be prepared to coordinate the resources of the workplace and the community in order to meet the needs of clients. This flexible qualification helps graduates acquire the knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviours needed to pursue a wide range of career opportunities in the field of psychology.

Course information

  • A pass in SPM or its equivalent with at least 3 credits in any subject and a pass in Mathematics and Science; OR
  • A pass in STPM or its equivalent with at least 1 full pass with GP 2.00 and a pass in, Mathematics and Science at SPM level; OR
  • Pass Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) (Level 3 MQF) in relevant field and a pass in Mathematics and Science at SPM subject to Senate approval and MUST attend bridging courses; OR
  • Other relevant or equivalent qualification, experience and requirement accepted by the HEP Senate/competent authority in Malaysia
  • Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government; OR
  • Entry requirements for admission into the Diploma’s program (level 5, MQF) through APEL as approved by the Ministry of Education (MOHE). Applicants must be/have:
    • A Malaysian citizen; and    
    • The candidate should be more than 20 years of age in the year of application
    • Relevant work experience / prior experiential learning; and
    • Pass the APEL Assessment

  • minimum score of 30-31 for TOEFL OR its equivalent.

The Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO) of this programme is to prepare graduates who are able to:

  2. Understands the fundamental of  Cognitive-Affective Basis of Behaviour
  3. Learns theories of personality, motivation and emotions in psychology, as well as abnormal psychology.
  4. Get the fundamental of social-cultural context of behaviour
  5. Understands Philosopy, in psychology and principle in psychology
  6. Understands the introduction to industrial and organisational psychology, health psychology, counselling psychology and educational psychology
